Purina’s Pro Plan Veterinary Supplements has introduced the FortiFlora Diarrhea Response Kit, a two-step system that helps manage occasional diarrhea in dogs and cats.

The supplement is available without a prescription and pairs short-term response through the FortiFlora Response stick packs made with kaolin and pectin to firm loose stools and FortiFlora sachets, which feature a probiotic to support digestive health and provide ongoing daily support.

The FortiFlora Response stick pack is designed to be administered every 8 hours for up to 72 hours to firm loose stools and soothe the animal’s GI tract. The liver-flavored powder features kaolin and pectin and can be given with food. Then, pet owners can switch to FortiFlora sachets to help maintain healthy intestinal balance. They feature Enterococcus lactis SF68, a single-strain clinically studied probiotic that was the number-one veterinarian-recommended brand in a survey of qualified U.S. veterinarians.

After completing the kit, pet owners should continue giving their pet FortiFlora daily to help maintain ongoing digestive and immune health, the company reported.

“No one wants their pet to be uncomfortable, and diarrhea can be stressful for pets and owners,” said Martha Cline, DVM, DACVIM, veterinary nutritionist at Purina. “The FortiFlora Diarrhea Response Kit gives pet owners a clear two-step plan rooted in the same probiotic veterinarians have trusted for 20 years.”
